规划问道在前一时期我国城市发展处于重新区轻老城时，很多老城巷弄沦为失落空间。近年来对老城复兴关注度上升，可巷弄作为不易出政绩和获效益之地，大都还受到冷遇。或有个别区位好、商业价值高的被遴选进行示范改造如成都宽窄巷、福州三坊七巷、上海新天地巷弄等，但在改造中除了力求自身活化的成功以外，不应忽略巷弄振兴与老城整体战略方向之间的综合协调关系。特别是在未来老城发展战略将更加转向民生的背景下，巷弄系统振兴的意义确有必要重新审视和赋予。《城市规划》杂志2017年第7期刊登的杨思声的文章，以厦门为例对这一问题进行了探讨。
