01
Intelligent Transportation (智能交通)
Intelligent transportation refers to the new transportation system that uses advanced information and communication technologies to improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of transportation. In China, intelligent transportation has developed rapidly, especially in mega-cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, in terms of road traffic control, public transport command and dispatch, traffic information sharing, emergency management, etc. As an important indicator of smart city, the development of intelligent transportation has become an effective means to solve the problems of actual urban transportation.
02
License Plate Restriction (限牌令)
License plate restriction refers to the policy controlling the increase of car licenses, so as to control the total number of motor vehicles for purpose of reducing traffic congestion and guaranteeing traffic efficiency. In China, the cities of Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Guiyang, Tianjin, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen, as well as Hainan Province, have already issued and implemented the policy of license plate restriction. By issuing a fixed number of licenses every month following the principle of either lottery or auction, the policy has played a crucial role in curtailing the growth of motor vehicles in these cities.
03
Park and Ride (泊车换乘)
Park and Ride, i.e., P+R or P&R in short, refers to the transportation mode that encourages passengers to transfer from private transportation to public transportation for entering urban centers by providing them with parking and transfer sites at low prices or free of charge near rail transit stations, expressways, and bus stations outside urban centers, so as to reduce the use of private cars and relieve the traffic pressures in urban centers.
